Important Update Regarding Email Marketing and I-contact

If you follow the training classes we have for setting up an email marketing campaing with I-contact, this is extremely important.

Do not, in any way, use the words "Renegade University" in your email subjects, or in the content of your emails.  Also, do not in any way use "Renegade University" to name your lists at I-contact.

You are more than welcome to brand yourself (promote yourself, information, build relationships, etc) as we have been teaching through the use of I-contact--just do not use the words "Renegade University."

In the training tutorials it gives some examples for creating lists and content in your email marketing with I-contact.  I gave examples that inluded using 'Renegade University' to name a list and in the writing of the content.  Do not do this any longer.  I'll follow up on why in the future.  For the time being, just remember the main goal is to brand YOU, not systems or companies or products.

Hi Mike,

Your timing couldn't have been better. I have just finished watching the email marketing training series(for the second time), have loaded the leads I have generated from my Renegade University capture page, and created the first six emails. Guess what I named it? "Renegade University Training." Luckily, I didn't hit the GO button.

The internet is always changing -- there is no such thing as "internet utopia." Thank you for keeping your blog up-to-date, and working hard to keep the training current as well. Revision and flexibility are a constant. And I think Marketing Merge exemplifies this fact.

Hi Mike

I have edited all my lists, titles and content in my emails and removed the words "Renegde university". Is it ok to use RU or R University?
thanks
Tania

Tania, I would recommend using a more generic name like "the free training area" in your emails--although if you have used 'renegade' or 'renegade university' in your emails for many month you can probably still use it with no issues.

I-contact says people with old accounts don't have an issue because you aren't getting complaints... but since some (or one) Renegade University student spammed, they are not allowing new accounts to use that term in the email.

If you use Oprius or other email systems you will not have an issue.

It seems no matter how much we emphasis the principles of attraction marketing there is always a few who don't get it-thus Icontact doesn't want people promoting Renegade U in their emails.

Hey Mike,

I sent off a few emails through i-contact using "Renegade Universtiy" before I came across this blog. I haven't had any issues so far. I'll let you know.

Hi Ann & Mike,
Thank you for this important message. I've just started setting up my i-contact & creating my email list and I certainly do not want to start out as a spammer. Hi Ann & Mike,
Thank you so much for this important information. I'm in the process of setting up my i-contact form and noticed that I needed to set up my contact list. I certainly do not want to start out as a spammer. It would be gladly appreciated if you could recommend other ways to promote the Renegade University?
Thank you Tania for your info as well.......
